A Blast From The Past

It was recently announced that Disney was about to release what is supposed to be the return of the Rescue Rangers. I was initially excited for this, as it was one of my favorite cartoons growing up. Upon the release of the trailer, there were a few things that troubled me. Their voices and that only one of the characters is cgi...then there's this Roger Rabbit-esque libe action aspect. After viewing the trailer, I'd convinced myself that I was not going to watch it. Fast forward to today, the date of release to Disney Plus. I woke up at 6 am to a notification that it had been released. My early morning inquisitiveness led me to open the app and press play. So i watched. And I actually enjoyed what I watched. For the most part anyway. I won't spoil the movie for anyone else but I'll just say that the things that bothered me about the trailer also bothered me throughout the movie itself. However, it was not enough of a bother for me to completely dismiss what is actually a decent movie. Now I've never been one to be totally against sequels and reboots/remakes, etc. I'm a firm believer that the original work will always stand on its own. That's why I will never understand people that say things like "childhood ruined" or won't watch because they don't want it to harm the nostalgia of the original. First thing is, your childhood is over. I don't think that anything that takes place today can change, let alone ruin something that has already taken place. So that stance, doesn't completely make sense to me. Still, if you do feel that way, then you don't have to watch it. But, 99% of the time, most will anyway if nothinv wlse than to confirm how bad it is so it supports their thoughts about it. I will admit that there arw aome remakes that I've refused to watch over the years. But its never been because I felt that it would ruin the original; just that it really didnt look good enough for me tobtake the time to watch. So with all that said, I say that if you were were a fan of the Rescue Rangers, give it a chance. If nothing wlse but to see familiar characters from your childhood on the screen together again. Not to mention all the cameos that put in. Overall, I give it a 3.5/5.

I'm Proud of You! Pt. 1

I'm so proud of you! I've been told this a lot in my life. I've been told by my dad, my mom, some uncles and even friends. But out of everyone and everytime I've heard it, I never believed it from anyone besides my parents. I guess that should be enough but for me, it isn't. One of my greatest goals in life as a writer has always been to help people heal in whatever way they need it. I write mostly about love; but I also write about life and the things we can go through in it. I generally write from personal experience or from the perspective of people closest to me that I know have been through whatever the topic may be. I believe that's why a lot of people feel my poetry the way they do and why most relate to it so much. I know that this gift that I have was given to me for a reason and I've seen how pwerful it can be. I've had people ask me to write poems for their loved ones, for their significant others, for the passing of family and friends. There have also been a couple of incidents where something I custom wrote has saved marriages. Then there are some that have used my poems on their dates and others still who have used them in their weddings videos. It's an amazing feeling. It's a feeling that makes me smile because it gives me purpose. Lately though, I haven't felt any of that at all. TO BE CONTINUED

Thoughts

Constantly I think about you, staring at the walls with a blank expression that's broken only by a smile. I should be doing something constructive but what we've built together has me content with how nicely our lives together has been personally landscaped by the mighty hands of God. To say I love you, is simply not saying enough. You are the one.

M.E.M.E. New Poetry Kindle Book From Don Savant

Struggle

Struggle.

So many of us know, not only what the word means, but how it feels. Many of us have been at the place we call rock bottom. The thing is though, that rock bottom is different based on the individual and how low they can get before it's too low to bear. The thing is though...is struggle is good. It's necessary. Struggle is life-changing, and when applied correctly, it can have a very positive effect on the rest of your life.

How? I mean, struggle sucks!

Right, it does suck. However, if we never struggle, we can never fine-tune our lives to get to the places we were intended to go. If we never struggle, then success can be taken for granted. I'm not saying that it can't be taken for granted even after struggle but, going through something give you a greater appreciation. It gives you a different angle of perception for where you had to go to get to where you are.

Long post short, be grateful for your struggle because it is instrumental in building you up to be who you will become.

Division Never Adds Up

We were all born out of love.  Now I know that we each were individually born into different situations; some with loving parents, and some with parents or a parent that could care less about them.  That's beside the point though.  The point is... God loved each of us to have us ushered into this world.  Inside of each of us is a heart that is designed to feel, to be compassionate and to be empathetic to our brothers and sisters on this Earth.

Things are unsettled here.  They have been for quite some time.  There has been a thing called "race" that has caused a rift between us all on the name of skin color.  At some point in history, a group of individuals felt that they were better than another group. Since then, that hatred has been taught and passed down through generation after generation.  Almost 400 years later, that hatred is still a thorn in our side.

The love that was born, bred and breathed into us is on life support.  If we don't get ourselves together soon, I fear God will grow tried of us all and simply pull the plug on our entire existence.

Let's get it together people.  Let's build a mindset of love and embrace one another as the children of God that we were designed to be.

Harmless Fun, Or Blatant Separation

Gravitopia is a trampoline lover's dream.  It is almost completely, wall-to-wall trampoline bouncy goodness, except for a few foam pits sprinkled about the outskirts.

As much fun as that sounds like, I was disturbed by something as I visited the place with my family.  First, there is no true "lobby" or "sitting area" available for those who are not jumping.  Instead, there are randomly...or maybe strategically...placed seats available throughout the play area.  There is obvious concern for the safety of those areas, because you are forced to sign an electronic waiver with your personal information as you enter the building.

Another concern was the way in which they classify their jumpers.   You can purchase different time allotments; which is fine.  However, this is what I perceived as a potentially problematic situation.  You are given a rubber or silicone bracelet of a certain color to indicate how much time you paid for.  As your time is up, there is an announcement made over their P.A. system that says something to the effect of, "If you have on this color bracelet, your time is now up."

You may ask, well what is the problem with that?  Nothing at all if we lived in a semi-normal world.  Since we live in a world where everyone, including our children are bent on trying to out-do one another or subject others to ridicule because of whatever reason, I feel that in making such an announcement, it gives those who have purchased a longer time period he ammo they would need if they chose to be callous towards those that purchased a shorter time.

Here I stand
Ready and willing
To be the man that
God intended
In order to be
The man who will
Forever mend
