Truth is, if you know that something needs to change, or that you need to do something different, those changes need to take place then, instead of waiting. The more you procrastinate, the longer your goals will take to reach. The time you're wasting should be spent planning and executing the proper strategies to get where you need to be.

Always remember that the strength of your mentality along with positive words and actions can take you anywhere you want to go.

Dreams

Your dreams are yours to have, hold and protect. Never allow anyone to deter you from the path you are on. Be encouraged by those who have set and accomplished their own goals, as well as those who are still moving forward in an attempt to do so. Be encouraging to those who you see in the midst of a struggle along their way and be grateful for every single moment in your journey.

In your quest to be who you are supposed to be and do the things that are within your purpose, there is absolutely no room for doubt or fear. Seal ALL cracks with confidence and certainty that you WILL achieve what you set out to do and show GRATITUDE for every single part of the process. If you can THINK...you most certainly can BE.

Time Management

How much time have you used inefficiently today?

People complain all the time that there are not enough hours in the day to get everything they want accomplished.

The key is to use your time efficiently. We all have the same number of hours in a day so the lack of time is not an excuse to not be successful. We all have the same 24 hours as Bill Gates and Warren Buffett. The difference is not monetary because both started with nothing. The difference is in what they've done, how they did it, and how they managed the time spent doing it. You don't want to either underwhelm or overwhelm yourself. It's all about balance.

Long Way To Go

Every one of us has habits. Some are good habits and some are bad. Most of our habits are formed early in life while our parents are raising us. That's usually where we pick them up. As we get older and start figuring life out for ourselves, we also pick up some of our own, either from other people or just from living.

Something that I've learned about habits during my journey through life; Good ones are hard to keep and bad ones are hard to break.

There are certain habits that I have that I've been trying to break for years but they just won't go away. Every time I think I've got it beat, here it comes again. I pray all the time that this habit can be broken, that I can be free of it once and for all but...until then, I know that I have a long way to go.

The Power Of The Tongue

Life can be as difficult or as easy as we tell ourselves it is. Most of us don't realize the power we possess within ourselves, while a lot of us that do choose to use that power against others instead of for ourselves and others.

Start speaking things that help as opposed to things that hinder. So many of us disguise maliciousness as "just being real" or "keeping it 100" when in actuality you're really just keeping yourself in a place where your mind or spirit cannot grow.

Release yourself from the bondage of your own thoughts and tongue. Speak things into existence that will prosper you...speak greatness over those that have wronged you. I know it's easier said than done but at the same time, if it was easy it wouldn't be worth doing.

Things you have to work for are the things in life that are worth more. Stamp that on a t-shirt and display it proudly.

The Beauty Of Life

As human beings, we can take the most beautiful things in the world and destroy them out of selfishness. Instead, we should cherish them out of love. God gave us so many things to enjoy on this earth yet we continue to ruin them. Let's begin to restore things in our lives. Let God heal what's ailing us and start to appreciate Him for all He does and for everything He's provided us.

Don Savant Confession: I Almost Gave Up

I used to frequent the message boards on Tyler Perry's website. I'd been silently fighting my worst bout with depression at that point. I was on the edge, literally about to jump over. In a moment of desperation I reached out on the forum. At the rate people posted there, I knew I wasn't going to get a reply from anyone. Almost immediately, I received an e-mail from 3 individuals encouraging me. One in particular started keeping a check on me daily. She informed me a few days into our correspondence that she'd looked me up on the net and found some of my poetry. She used the very thing i was blessed with to turn around and bless and encourage me. Not a week later, I ran into a gentleman at work seeking to find out how he could have his upcoming book carried in our store.

After speaking with him, he gave me the info to contact his publishing company. If it were not for Tyler Perry's website, the young lady that reached out to me and the gentleman that shared his info with me, Don Savant's Book of Poems, Sonnets and Vows for Relationships and Weddings and all that I have done after it may not exist. This is a shining example and testimony of how God will send you exactly what and who we need right when He knows we need it the most. Don't give up on your dreams y'all. They are placed in you for a reason. Things may get bad...it may seems as if there's no way but He will always make a way for you if you just hold on.

I hope this blesses and encourages someone.

So many of us go through life searching...for something...yet we have no idea what it is we seek. Look to God first and He will give you direction.

The New Don Savant Biz Card

I would like to introduce you to my latest creation...My new business card.

I wrestled with what to put on it, as I didn't want to put too little, then I didn't want it too crowded either so I decided to leave off my e-mail address?

Why?

Well because my e-mail is already flooded on a daily basis with so much stuff and I didn't want to chance missing a potentially important e-mail. Also, because when giving out the card, it gives me the opportunity to vocalize my e-mail address to the person personally. When they look at it and say hey, your e-mail address isn't on here, I can tell them that I can be contacted viz the social media options that I included and that if they want to e-mail me directly, it's don.savant@gmail.com. Then I get the opportunity to see how serious that person really was about contacting me by finding out if they actually remembered it or now if and when the e-mail comes through.

Makes sense to me.

Anyway. Here it is!!! I'm ready to pass these things out already!!!

Get Up!!!

When I was in high school, my mom used to wake me up every morning and I would just lay there trying to gather myself. Every minute she used to peep in telling me to get up. I'd always respond by saying I'm up!!! She'd say...you're awake but you're not up!!! On your feet!!!

There are so many of us that are awake but we refuse to get up...we refuse to stand up and do what needs to be done in order to move forward. We have to stop allowing ourselves to believe that there's nothing better out there for us. We were created by greatness to do great things. It's all about purpose. Find that and you'll see all things in life start to make sense. Get up y'all!!!

What all are you willing to give up to make all of your dreams come true? A real hustler will do whatever it takes if it means that much to him or her. Sleep and free time isn't important when you're working towards making the big picture clearer and clearer until it's right there in the palm of your hand.

When you do get there, don't get lazy or comfortable, move on to the next thing while maintaining the thing you just achieved. Always keep moving forward...keep growing...keep changing...keep reaching higher...keep LOVING what you're doing. Don't let procrastination or doubt slip in and take what you've worked so hard for.

Be Active In What You Seek

Are you consistent in going after your goals, or are you on what I call the hot and cold or stop and go plan?

If you operate in that way you're more likely to give up on your dreams because during those cold moments you start to overthink things and then doubt sets in. The next thing that will happen is you'll start to feel that all of your efforts aren't worth it.

When you go after something you must eat, sleep, drink and live that thing. It has to become a way of life for you. It has to become something you think about constantly, something you're forever working to improve on. It can't just be an aspect of you life...it has to be what you're identified by. When people see you or hear your name, it must be synonymous with that thing you're trying to be.

You must be willing to accept any setback as a challenge to move forward more aggressively. Keep fresh thoughts and ideas written down and always be in construction mode because the moment you stop building, you stop growing.

Actively seek the things you're after in life.

Let's grow people!!!

Family

Family means the world to me. I love it when we can take the time to be around one another, to go to church and worship together, to vacation together, break bread and eat together. There's a feeling that just can't be explained. It's excitement mixed with anticipation and gratitude.

Your family members are the first friends you have in life so that connection is established early. Especially if you have a big family. No matter how much we try not to everyone has their favorite sibling or that favorite cousin aunt of uncle. It doesn't mean you love the rest of them any less, it's just that at that time in your life you were around those individuals more than others.

I remember every year we'd have our family reunion and everyone would show up. No matter what they had to do or how far they had to drive they were right there. It was such a great era in my life. Now that everyone has grown up and have their own lives to deal with, we don't show up anymore. We're too busy to pick up and phone and call or too busy to take just a moment to reestablish that family bond. The majority of us don't even know each other anymore. Our kids go through every day interacting with people that may possibly be their family but they will never know because as parents we're so preoccupied with everything else that we don't have the necessary time to show them who their people are.

I wish we could go back to the time when family was important...

Faithful Imagination

When we were children our imaginations would sometimes run away with us. We wanted to be doctors and lawyers, etc. Most of the things we pretended to be were things we took an interest in. Somewhere between being a child and becoming an adult some of lose the ability to imagine in that way. Our imagination is a gateway to our dreams. We all have them, it's natural for us. We all have something in life we'd like to accomplish, something we're good at and would love to do. We all have goals.

Unfortunately, being the impatient people that we are, we give up on those dreams before we can ever see them come to life. That's because if it doesn't fit in our timeline, then we feel that it's either impossible to accomplish or that it simply wasn't meant for us. Let me tell you this. We dream for a reason. There is purpose behind the things we want to do in life. We cannot expect everything to happen overnight, nor can we give up when we feel things aren't going the way they should. It's all a part of a plan has been designed for us.

It's important that we find that thing we wish to do and become as educated as possible in that field. For some that may mean to go for an institutionalized education with a degree in our field of interest. For others, it means to read, to research, to live through trial and error, never giving up on that which we feel in our hearts is for us. In live we must always be in a state of learning, so that we may properly grow, and also that we may commit to teaching those that are approaching the obstacles that we've already overcome. We must also have love, determination, drive and most importantly, faith. With these things in their proper place, there is absolutely nothing we cannot achieve. Keep moving forward!!!

Pursue Your Dreams

If you have a passion for something...by all means pursue it. If something you do in particular makes you happy when you do it...pursue it!!! Don't worry about who tells you that you can't or shouldn't be doing it. It's your dream...your gift, not theirs.

Actively participate in the things in your life that make you feel alive!!! Live ladies and gentlemen...starting right now...LIVE!!!

Grateful For Life

Every time my lungs expand and contract, I know it's God breathing life into me and it's such a glorious feeling..it's such a humbling experience because I know that it's because of Him that I'm here. It's because of Him that I live and breathe. It's because of HIM that I'm BLESSED. I know I'm still a work in progress but Lord I'm willing to change whatever it is that needs to be changed in order to be who YOU designed me to be. Everything I say, i do, and I am is part of something bigger than myself. For that I am truly grateful.

Recondition Your Thoughts

A lot of things in our lives revolve around repetition. If we think negatively, that means that we've constantly been around negative people and situations. We've conditioned ourselves through repetition to believe what we can't do. It's time we reverse that and start telling ourselves what we can and will do. Repeat it until it comes naturally for you to do so. Repeat it until you believe nothing else in your life to be true. Then live it like your life depends on it because the truth is...it does. Be positive, live positive and surround yourself with positive influences.

When You Realize

People have the common misconception that you are grown as soon as you hit the age of 18. From a legal standpoint, this is true, but it in no way signifies that you are indeed an adult in stature or maturity.

You are not truly grown until you realize that the things you're doing, saying and participating in coupled with the people you are surrounding yourselves with are not helping you grow and prosper in any way. When you make this realization and start to plan things, start to write out and execute the things you'd like to accomplish in your life and actually start doing them. That's when you can officially call yourself grown.

Take A Moment...

I know we all lead busy lives...we skim over things when we should really read thoroughly for full comprehension. We go into things blindly when we should have taken a few more moments to assess what it is we're diving into. We jump into relationships without really knowing the person we're sharing ourselves with. We neglect our loved ones...our elderly...our children...because we're too busy to give them a moment of our time. We're doing a whole lot of running around yet we truly aren't getting anywhere...because the people...the things..and the situations that really need our attention are not getting it. Stop and take a moment to love, fellowship and cherish the things and people in your lives that matter. In that may lie something you really need to continue moving forward.

The things in life that are the worst for us are usually the hardest things to let go of. Even in our times of struggle we get comfortable and don't want to move out of them for the fear of things getting worse if and when we do. All the while that thing we're supposed to be doing...what we were meant to do is staring us down waiting for us to realize that it's there and always has been. We always say we're waiting on things to happen when the fact of the matter is...those things are waiting for us to breathe life into them. Your purpose in life cannot be carried out without you.

Get Up and Get It!!!!

Welcome to Monday ladies and gentlemen!!!

So glad to see you all and to be in the midst of it. If we realized just how much control we have over our own lives, we would know exactly how amazing life can be. The quality of our lives is the sum of the decisions we make, the people we allow to influence us, how well we educate ourselves and how we react to the situations that arise. The power to change is, always has been and always will be within us. So many of us are waiting on God to "show up and show out" for us, not realizing that He's always been there helping us along the way. He's waiting on you!!!

Stop sitting there waiting for something to happen for you. You have to go out and MAKE something happen for you. In order to BE something, you must DO something because if you continue to do nothing, that's exactly what you're going to get.

Be active in your life, be influential, surround yourself with people of influence. The people you look up to should be visible in your life outside of a television screen or a magazine article, etc. Make your reality greater than the dream that lead to it!!!

Don't Give Up!!!

If you feel you're not receiving the attention or recognition that you feel you deserve in what you're doing, don't let it frustrate you. I've seen many people quit something that they are great at, that they were meant to do all because they weren't getting the feedback and/or accolades they felt they deserved.

The truth is, we can't help but feel that we should be noticed for what we do but, the reality of it is, that won't always happen. However, there is ALWAYS someone checking for you. There is ALWAYS someone who appreciates you and what you do. They may not make themselves known or vocalize it to you but trust me when I say that they are taking note.

Your biggest opportunities in life will be offered by people you never knew existed, people that have been taking careful notes of what you do and have enjoyed it. You will have random people compliment you on what you do at the time when you least expect it. Let those moments keep you going. Let the fact that someone out there is digging what you do motivate you even when you don't see them. That's what faith is all about. Believing what and when you can't physically that see person or persons, that support or that love. It doesn't mean it's not there. You just have to have some patience and believe that what you're doing is not in vain.

Challenge Yourself

The easiest thing to do in life is nothing, but doing that carries the most harsh consequences.

Life itself is simple, there is nothing at all complex about it. It's the things that can an will present themselves to you that can be a problem....if you allow them to be. In order to be something you must first do something. Life itself should compel you to be proactive as well as reactive. Your reactions, however can and will define you either in a positive or negative way depending on how you react to the situations that arise.

We look at people that have things...that are successful and some of us automatically assume that they've got it made, that they are living it up. We don't normally see what they had to overcome to get there, what fears they may have had to conquer or what losses they may have suffered along the way. Every one of us have to give up something in order to get something. That's just the way it works. It's the circle of prosperity. You receive, then you give, you receive more, you give more....etc. It doesn't matter how big or small the thing is that you give because it will mean the world to the person receiving it. But....



First you have to commit yourself to something other than standing back and looking at what others have. Get up and use what you've been given to pull yourself out of where you are. Once you do, you will feel a great momentum shift...then you will feel a great resistance. This is when people start to give up, because the old ways will try to kick back in and that level of comfort from doing nothing will once again try to take over. This is the time when you have to push yourself. You have to take a glance back to see how far you've come and not want to see that place again. You cannot be satisfied with where you are. You must always forge ahead.

There should be nothing or no one that can talk you out of being who you are and accomplishing the things that you know were meant for you. Do what you do so well that you could do it in your sleep if you had to and never stop learning to be even better than you already are.

There's nothing holding you back but you.

Remember His Dream By Not Neglecting Your Own. Happy MLK Day.

Martin Luther King, Jr. made it alright to dream. He shared his dream with the entire nation and gave his life in the midst of trying to realize that dream. How many of you have a dream that important to you that you're willing to lay it all on the line to achieve it?

Forget King's dream for a moment. Think about what YOUR dream is. Think about what YOU'D like to accomplish; what you'd like your life to stand for. What are you willing to do to make sure your dream becomes your reality?

What adversities would you willingly face? How far would you go before you gave up, or would you never give up no matter what comes your way?

Let's always remember how important our dreams are. Let's always remember the sacrifices that others have made just so our dreams can exist. A man that has no dreams has nothing in life to look forward to. Look forward to doing, to being, to achieving something in your life no matter how big or small. Accomplishments have no size requirements nor do they have limits. Live your dreams starting today.

We're told that the sky is the limit...I say with Him, and the right mindset, there are no limits because beyond the sky is where He is seated, therefore, I will think..I will live...I will truly exist beyond the sky...
